ABOUT AFTERMATH
In July 2022 March Fourth—a non-partisan grassroots movement committed to eradicating mass shootings in America - was formed out of Highland Park, IL. Through advocacy, March Fourth united individuals from over a dozen communities affected by mass shootings.
Witnessing the profound impact of mass shootings on communities, the restorative influence of connection, and the shared needs and experiences of survivors, Aftermath was born.
Aftermath is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to support communities impacted by mass shootings and to share stories told by survivors about their experience living in the aftermath. We are a volunteer-led organization guided by an advisory council composed of individuals from diverse communities across the country who are living through the aftermath of a mass shooting.
HOW WE WORK
Aftermath's central mission revolves around dismantling barriers that could obstruct individuals or communities from accessing critical crisis care, particularly in the aftermath of mass shootings. We have dedicated months to engaging with survivors, diligently seeking their insights and experiences to pinpoint and rectify obstacles they have encountered when seeking support. These impediments can manifest in various ways, encompassing financial constraints, language and cultural disparities, limited awareness of available resources, and psychological hurdles. By proactively addressing these and other potential barriers, Aftermath is committed to cultivating a more inclusive and easily accessible environment for survivors and their families.
Our aim is to ensure that crisis care is readily accessible precisely when it is needed most. This unwavering dedication to removing impediments underscores our commitment to providing the necessary support and assistance for those affected by mass shootings on their path toward healing and recovery.
